The 10 Cities With the Most Billionaires in 2026
New York is still the world's billionaire capital with 146, but Shenzhen has 132 and four mainland Chinese cities sit in the top 10. Mumbai, with 95, is the top Indian city.
Quick Answer
New York has the most billionaires of any city, with 146 in the Hurun Global Rich List 2026. Shenzhen is second with 132, followed by Shanghai (120), Beijing (107) and London (102). The ten cities on this list are home to 1,023 billionaires combined.
This ranking uses the Hurun Global Rich List 2026, which counts people with a net worth of at least US$1 billion and assigns each one to a city. The counts are as of January 15, 2026. Hurun's numbers differ from Forbes, which publishes its own billionaire list, so city counts here should not be compared directly with the Forbes-based country figures in our ranking of countries with the most billionaires. The list also counts cities as Hurun defines them, and the sources we reviewed do not spell out the exact boundaries, so a city's figure may include its wider area. Hong Kong is counted as its own city, separate from mainland China.
Hurun versus Forbes
Hurun and Forbes both rank the world's billionaires, but they use different research methods and cutoff dates, so their totals differ. This ranking uses Hurun because it publishes a city-by-city table for 2026. Counts here are not directly comparable with the Forbes-based country totals in our other billionaire ranking.
